      Regional Workshop Central Asia on S&T development and the FP7 "Development Cooperation Instrument" (DCI)

      S&T policy should be embedded into other policies. In particular there is a need to ensure coherence of implementation instruments. The Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI) is a major tool of the EU to promote coherence amongst international development activities. The workshop in Almaty aims to develop recommendations on how regional S&T strategies can be aligned with national as well as with EU policies and instruments, enabling an optimum exploitation of synergies.

      General Assembly Meeting of the IncoNet EECA project

      The 2009 General Assembly Meeting of the IncoNet EECA was held in Moscow, on 26-27 November and hosted by the State University - Higher School of Economics (HSE).       SCOPE EAST Final Meeting

      The final project meeting of the SCOPE-EAST project took place on 20th June 2008 in Bonn. The meeting was held back-to-back to the Project Coordinators Meeting and the Project Management Board meeting of the IncoNet EECA project. The final meeting was dedicated to make a review of the past milestones and deliverables of the SCOPE-EAST project which paved the way to future coordination actions such as is the IncoNet and as will be the BILAT-RUS and BILAT-UKR projects. The IncoNet EECA project coordination team attended the meeting. This secured the smooth and adequate transfer of knowledge, results and lessons learnt.

      IncoNet EECA-meeting for Coordinators of projects targeting Eastern European and Central Asian countries

      On June 18th 2008 the International Bureau of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research c/o German Aerospace Center (DLR) organized a “Meeting of coordinators of projects targeting Eastern European and Central Asian countries”. Project coordinators from from Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Romania, Russia, Sweden and Turkey accepted the invitation of DLR in order to exchange experiences about research cooperation with Eastern European and Central Asian countries.

      Workshop of Regional Correspondents in Bonn

      In April all Regional Correspondents joined a Workshop hosted by DLR in Bonn covering the organization of information flows building on shared responsibilities of the Central Information Office (DLR) and the Regional Correspondents (HSE, NIP, BelISA, CIT, InExCB-KZ). In addition, the concept of the Web Portal, the respective obligations of the project partners to develop and update its content, the concept of the quarterly Newsletter and the procedures to ensure quality of the information were discussed and agreed upon. A user training to experience the Content Management System was an integral part of the Workshop.

      The International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS), in pursuance of its wider goal to enhance the policy dialogue and cooperation between Eastern European and Central Asian (EECA) countries and the EU Member States in the field of science and technology, organised the kick-off meeting of the project entitled “S&T International Cooperation Network for Eastern European and Central Asian Countries” (IncoNet EECA). The project is funded under the 7th Framework Programme for Research of the European Community (FP7) and is coordinated by the ICBSS. The kick-off meeting took place in Athens on 16-18 January 2008.
